A Mindset of Learning, Change, and Continuous Improvement

Early in my career, I served as a high-voltage electrician and combat engineer with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The symbol we wore, the castle with the motto Essayons, in French means “Let us try.”

At the time, it felt practical and mission-focused. Looking back, it shaped how I approach everything since. Learning never stops. Change is constant. And improvement isn’t a one-time event, it’s continuous. You don’t wait for perfect conditions; you assess, adapt, and move forward.

I have come to learn that early experience taught me that progress comes from curiosity, discipline, and the willingness to try, again and again. Essayons still resonates with me today, not as a slogan, but as an ever-evolving mindset.
