Commercial & Operations Leadership - P&L Management

I’ve spent most of my career leading businesses, building teams, managing P&Ls, improving operations, developing customers, and helping companies grow.

Building Stronger Businesses for What’s Next

President | COO | General Manager

My experience has primarily been in building materials, distribution, manufacturing, industrial markets and construction-related businesses. I’ve worked in large organizations, PE-backed businesses, entrepreneurial companies and smaller middle-market businesses.

What I’ve learned is pretty simple:

Good businesses don’t usually need more complexity. They need clarity, accountability, good people and consistent execution.

That’s where I tend to add the most value.

Where I Do My Best Work

I’m at my best when a business has a real opportunity in front of it, but the organization, systems, leadership or execution need to catch up.

Sometimes that means improving an existing operation.

Sometimes it means preparing a business for growth.

Sometimes it means bringing people together around a common direction and creating the accountability to execute.

And sometimes it means stepping into a business that simply needs someone to take ownership, figure things out and get it moving in the right direction.

I’ve been fortunate to do all of those things throughout my career.

Operations & P&L Leadership

Led multi-location distribution businesses with responsibility for people, customers, operations, profitability and overall business performance.

Growth & Commercial Leadership

Built markets, developed customers, strengthened sales organizations and connected commercial strategy with the operational capabilities needed to support growth.

Business Improvement

Stepped into businesses where performance, service, processes or accountability needed to improve, assessed what was happening, made purposeful changes and helped teams execute.

Building Teams & Leaders

I believe strong businesses are built by strong people. I’ve spent much of my career developing leaders, clarifying accountability and helping people work together more effectively.

Emerging Technologies & AI

I’m also interested in how technology and AI can improve the way businesses operate. But I see technology as a tool, not the strategy. The fundamentals still matter; good people, good processes, good information and disciplined execution.

What I’m Looking for Next

Today, I do some independent advisory work through Ron Neary LLC. It has allowed me to stay active, work with business owners and leadership teams, and help companies work through specific challenges.

I’ve enjoyed that work. But I also know what I want next.

I want to be part of a business for the long term.

I miss being part of a cohesive team, having long-term goals and being accountable for delivering them.

I miss developing people and watching them grow, being close enough to the business to see a problem, work through it with the team, make the changes and ultimately see the results.

That’s why I’m looking for the right long-term operating leadership opportunity.

I’m less concerned about the title than I am about the business, the people, the ownership, and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.

The right opportunity could be as a President, COO or General Manager, particularly in a middle-market distribution, building products, industrial, manufacturing or construction-related business.

What matters most is having the opportunity to lead, contribute, develop people and help build something that performs better over time.

Let’s Talk

f you’re an owner, CEO, board member, PE professional or recruiter looking for experienced operating leadership, I’d welcome the opportunity to have a conversation.

I’m always interested in learning about good businesses, good people and what they’re trying to accomplish.
